Salted Caramel
Blondies
1
stick unsalted butter, softened
1
cup packed brown sugar
1
large egg
2
teaspoons vanilla extract
1
cup all-purpose flour
¼
teaspoon salt
1
cup chocolate chips
1
cup nuts or coconut, optional
¼
cup salted caramel sauce (make your own with this recipe)
Preheat
oven to 350º F. Spray an 8x8 baking pan with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside.
Cream
together butter and brown sugar until
light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
Blend
in egg and vanilla. Add flour and salt, and mix just until smooth. Stir in
chocolate chips and nuts or coconut if using. Spread into baking pan.
Drop
tablespoons of salted caramel sauce onto the blondie batter.
Use
a butter knife to swirl the sauce into the
blondie batter.
Bake
20-25 minutes, until set in the middle and lightly golden brown.
Cool
on a rack, cut into pieces, and store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days.
